Como città di mestiere – La Seta e i suoi opifici dal 1860 al 1950

The Educational Silk Museum celebrates its 10 years of activity with a tribute to Como and its world-famous silk industry.
“Como città di mestiere” shows both silk factories and their activity from 1860 to 1950, thanks to carefully selected documents belonging to the Museum archives or to private owners.
The great success of Como is the result of creativity and fantasy, witnessed by the presence of photographs, letters, advertising, drawings and fabric samples.
This exhibition rediscovers old printing mills, ancient machinery, valuable artefacts and the improvements in silk production made by the technicians from “Setificio” school.
